Expert on the UN Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment, including Socioeconomic Aspects.
Authored more than 30 scientific peer-reviewed journal articles (10 with index factor) and 2 books. Researcher at the “European Policies Research Centre” (EPRC) and the London School of Economics, for DG Regio. Investigator in other EU projects (Interreg Sudoe and Atlantic Space).
Member of several EU professional associations (European Regional Science Association - ERSA, European Association of Geographers – EUROGEO, Salzburg Global Seminar).
Ph. D. in Economics (LSE, 1998) and in Geography (NOVA, 1993). Officer at the European Commission (1988-1990).
Experience in international teaching, in particular at Autonoma (Madrid), Paris IV, Strathclyde, Cracow and Sao Paulo Universities.

With a background in human geography and urban planning, her work has engaged with topics including port cities and maritime policy, post-conflict cities and and communication technology, gentrification, gender equality in urban space.
PhD in Geography and Territorial Planning (NOVA University of Lisbon, 2018). She holds a BA in urban planning from the Polytechnic of Milan, as well as a master degree in GIS and remote sensing from the Univesity of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).

PhD in Economics and Societies from New University of Lisbon. Main scientific interests include Geopolitics, Geo-economics, Poverty, Social Exclusion, and Economic Development.
Specialized in technology and nautical sciences, marine electrical and telecommunications systems and doctorate in e-planning at FCSH-UNL, with the defense of the thesis, entitled "e-Planning as an Instrument in the Construction of the Sea Cluster in Portugal Quantification, Participation and Involvement of the National Socioeconomic Sectors "(2013).
