Opening conference - The European Sea
The inaugural conference of the Jean Monnet Chair on EU Integrated Maritime Policy and Blue Growth took place at the Rectorate of NOVA on 20 March 2018. Three dedicated panels discussed maritime and marine issues. Representatives from various European institutions, Portuguese government, business associations as well as academics and researchers were among the participants and speakers. Meeting with MAR7
A meeting between the Jean Monnet Chair team and MAR7 took place today at FCSH-UNL. MAR7 is a new association aimed to contribute to the development of the sea economy in the District of Setúbal; its intention is to coordinate efforts and promoting synergies within and outside of the local District.
Professor Regina Salvador was invited to the PwC's conference 'Leme - Barómetro PwC da Economia do Mar' for introducing briefly the aim and activities of the Jean Monnet Chair in EU Integrated Maritime Policy and Blue Growth", in the context of education, research and jobs related to the sea."
Jean Monnet Chair for NOVA FCSH
Dr. Regina Salvador, Professor at the Department of Geography and Regional Planning of NOVA FCSH has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair in this year’s competition. The European Union gives this prestigious designation to university professors teaching primarily on European integration; it comprises financial support for course development as well as research and outreach activities.
The Chair will organize academic workshops, lectures, and expert briefing sessions on topics related to on marine and maritime knowledge. Named OCEANID, this program’s objective is contributing to increase knowledge in line with the European Union's Sustainable Blue Growth prospect.
